Biography

Gregson’s Comments: “Matthias returns for his junior year after forming a wonderful partnership with Alexis (Pradie) last year. He was one of the main reasons why we were so successful defensively at the end of the season. We will look for him to maintain his performances from last year and get even better this year.”

As A Junior in 2010: First team All-Conference selection…named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District second team…NAIA All-America Scholar Athlete…Academic All-Conference honoree…started all 16 games as a part of ERAU’s defense…finished with eight points on the year courtesy of four goals…converted on four of nine attempts on goal…scored his first goal of the season against Walsh (Sept. 13)…netted the game-winner with an unassisted goal against Warner (Sept. 23)…contributed a goal in the Blue and Gold’s 6-0 defeat of Warner in the quarterfinal round of The Sun Conference tournament (Nov. 6)…also scored the Eagles’ only goal in the conference tournament semifinals against St. Thomas (Nov. 10).

As A Sophomore in 2009: First team All-Conference selection…started 19 matches in the center of the Eagles’ defense, playing 1,612 minutes…collected six points on two goals and two assists…registered the assisted on the Eagles’ game-winner against Belhaven (Sept. 18)…scored the game-winner against Southeastern (Oct. 20)…netted his second goal of the season in the Eagles’ win over Ave Maria (Oct. 24)…his performances against Southeastern and Ave Maria earned him Sun Conference Defensive Player of the Week honors on Oct. 26…assisted on the Eagles’ only goal against Webber International (Oct. 30)…converted on the penalty kick that sealed the Eagles’ penalty shootout win over Savannah College of Art and Design (Nov. 13).

2008 Season: Took a medical redshirt.

As A Freshman in 2007: Worked his way into the Eagles’ first 11, starting in 20 of ERAU’s 21 matches in the middle of the park…averaged just over one shot per game (1.20) and finished the year with six points on three goals, all of which came in league play…got his first collegiate point against Northwood (Sept. 7)…extended his scoring streak to two games with a goal against St. Thomas (Sept. 15)…netted the game-winner against Nova Southeastern (Oct. 20)…Academic All-Conference.

Prep: Graduate of Lausitzer Sportschule Cottbus, which produced former Embry-Riddle All-American Matthias Mueller (2000-03) and current Eagle assistant coach Richard Genge…member of the Selection Team of Brandeburg...played three seasons with FC Energie Cottbus and two seasons Ludwigfelder …captain of Ludwigfelder FC.

Personal: Born in Königs Wusterhausen, Germany on May 11, 1986…son of Burghard and Cornelia Klatt…majoring in Aviation Business Administration…named to the Dean’s List three times.
