Sam Vazquez came away from Geneva, Ohio, the site of the 2011 NAIA Indoor Track & Field National Championships with the first individual men's title in ERAU Men's Track & Field history. The Palm Coast, Fla. product smashed the rest of the field in the 1,000m run, finishing three seconds ahead of the closest competitor with a time of 2:24.61. Vazquez's effort helped push the Blue and Gold to a program-best 12th-place finish at the event.

The middle distance runner was an All-American on the ERAU men's cross country team and a four-time All-American on the track & field squad. He holds 11 Embry-Riddle men's track & field records, as well as owning five of the fastest times in ERAU Cross Country history.
