Biography

As A Junior in 2009: All-Conference selection…drafted in the 49th round of the 2009 MLB draft by the San Francisco Giants...started 55 games, primarily as a catcher, before suffering a season-ending injury in the NAIA National Championship Opening Round…batted .344 (63-183) with nine doubles, four triples and 116 total bases…led The Sun Conference in slugging percentage (.634) and RBI (55)…the Eagles’ leader in home runs (12) and on-base percentage (.459)…had a .985 fielding percentage…registered 19 multiple-hit games and a team-best 14 multiple-RBI games…one of the Eagles’ top hitters in clutch situations, batting .403 with two outs and .338 with runners in scoring position…owned a nine-game hitting streak from Mar. 4-16…was 3-for-4 with four RBI, two doubles and a homer against Florida Memorial (Feb. 14)…went 5-for-7  with a double, three home runs and eight RBI in two games against Northwood, Mar. 27-28…was a single short of hitting for the cycle against Thomas (Ga.) on Apr. 15 going 3-for-5 with a four RBI, a walk and a run scored to finish with a season-high nine total bases…named The Sun Conference Player of the Week on Mar. 30 after hitting .625 (5-for-8) with eight RBI and a 2.000 slugging percentage…also garnered NAIA National Player of the week honors for that performance (Mar. 31).

At University of Houston in 2007-08: Played two seasons with the Cougars’ ballclub...tallied nine doubles, three home runs and drove in 20 runs in 117 at-bats in 2008...had a .976 fielding percentage at catcher...member of the 2006-07 Conference USA Commissioner’s honor roll.

Prep: Graduated from Coppell High School after earning four letters for head coach Don English…the team’s starting catcher for three seasons...named team captain as a senior...helped the squad to the District 6A championship in 2006, batting .318 with five homers and 29 RBI...honored as District Defensive Player of the Year for two consecutive seasons...played in the NTHSCA All-Star Game...helped lead the team to the District Co-Championship and a berth in the Class 6A Region I semifinals as a junior...represented the Texas Rangers’ market at the prestigious Area Code Games in Aug. 2005...named to the Baylor-Grapevine All-Tournament Team as a sophomore...member of the A Honor Roll.

Personal: Son of Jennifer and Charles Goolsby...born Apr. 22, 1988...majoring in Business Administration...gave his time at the Children’s Hospital Cancer Center through the Volunteer Network.
