2014: Preseason NAIA All-American...first team All-Conference selection...second team Capital One Academic All-American...Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athlete...Academic All-Sun Conference honoree...Embry-Riddle Champions of Character Scholarship awardee...threw the fifth no-hitter in Embry-Riddle history at Stillman (Feb. 22), striking out three in a six-inning complete game...twice named The Sun Conference Pitcher of the Week, including a March 24th selection after he tossed 1.2 innings of relief against 15th-ranked Lindsey Wilson (March 19) on the road, earning the win, followed by a complete game shutout against Indiana Tech (March 21) where he allowed just two hits in nine innings with eight strikeouts...got the win against USCB (Feb. 15) as he held the Sand Sharks to just two hits in a 4-0 shutout...finished the season with a 9-4 record and 2.21 ERA...registered three complete games with four shutouts in 102.0 innings...struck out 72 batters and allowed just a .216 batting average against.

2013: Honorable Mention All-American…first team All-Sun Conference pitcher...named to the All-Tournament team at The Sun Conference Tournament...named the league’s Gold Glove award winner at the pitcher position...8-2 with a 2.21 ERA in 19 appearances...ranked second in the nation with 122.1 innings of work...also ranked fifth in the country with 103 strikeouts...threw four complete games and one shutout for the Blue and Gold...held opponents to just .247 from the plate...of the 113 hits he allowed, just 13 went for extra-bases...tossed 10.0 innings against USCB (Apr. 30) in the conference tournament...struck out 11 Seahawk batters against Northwood (Mar. 16) in an 8-0 shutout.

2012 at Winthrop: Made 14 appearances on the mound for Winthrop...tossed 14.2 innings with a 5.84 ERA.

Prep: Marietta High School graduate in 2011...was an Honorable Mention All-County Team member both as a junior and senior, and a four-year letterwinner for Marietta...named first team All-State as a senior...received Ace of the Staff Award as a junior and senior, while being named Scholar-Athlete of the Year during his junior season...played travel baseball for the Marietta Blue Devils and competed in the Futures Wood Bat League of Florida and was named to the first team All-Futures...carried a 4.1 GPA during high school...graduated with an International Baccalaureate Diploma with honors.

Personal: Born in Leesburg, Fla. on Oct. 8, 1992...son of Danielle Newcomb and Earl Nelson...majoring in Homeland Security...volunteered for the Big South 5K Road Race as well as Must Minsitries and Miracle League.
