Garrett Penton joined the ERAU track coaching staff after a successful career at the University of Florida.

Penton, a native of Clermont, Fla., will work primarily with the vaulters after being a four-year letterwinner for the Florida Gators. He hit a career-best mark of 5.05m (16’6.75”) during his senior season as a Gator in 2006. A member of the 2004 SEC Indoor Championship team, Penton finished sixth overall at the SEC Championships in 2006.

Penton also excelled in the classroom, earning a spot on the SEC Academic Honor Roll each of the years that he lettered. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Physiology in Dec. 2005 and finished his Master’s degree in Human Performance in Aug. 2007. Penton is a CSCS Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist from the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA).

After graduation, Penton spent one year as the the Assistant Director of Fitness and Wellness at ERAU, overseeing the development of fitness programs and working as a group fitness class instructor. He now attends Palmer College of Chiropractic, where he is working toward a Doctor of Chiropractic.
