DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- No. 8 Embry-Riddle University captured the 14th Annual Bahama House Classic championship title with a 66-54 victory against NCAA Division III Eastern Connecticut State University Wednesday evening at the Seabreeze High School's Joe Nelson Gymnasium.
The game was moved due to the tornado damage in the ICI Center on Christmas day and the Eagles will move into their new home gymnasium for the rest of the season at the Lemerand Center on the campus of Daytona Beach Community College starting with Friday's first round of the Carrabba's Shootout when they face Husson (Maine) at 8 p.m. and Farmingdale (N.Y.) will face Alice Lloyd (Ky.) in the first game of the evening at 6 p.m.
ERAU (13-3) led by six at the break 35-29 and pushed the lead to double-digits at the 17:34 mark of the second half on a three-pointer by tournament MVP Denver Cobb. Cobb finished with 20 points (four three-pointers) and added four rebounds, two assists and two steals. However, trailing 45-35 with 14:58 to go, ECSU (7-3) went on a 15-6 run over the next seven minutes to trim the Eagle advantage to just one point at 51-50 with 7:57 remaining capped off by All-Tournament selection Edwin Ortiz's three. Ortiz finished with 15 points, three boards and one assists.
Embry-Riddle quickly quashed the Warriors hopes with a 8-0 run with a three from Cobb, a driving layup by Ryan Ridder and a long-range bomb by All-Tourney selection Nick Miller as the shot clock wound down to take a 59-50 lead with 5:20 left. Miller had 14 points, nine rebounds (four offensive), two assists and three blocks.
The Eagles pushed it to double-figures once again on a Tyler DeBord layup and cruised to the 66-54 win.
Rounding out the All-Tournament team were Mike Parker of ECSU who finished with 15 points, six rebounds, three blocks and an assist and steal in the consolation game loss, Keith Hack of Medaille (N.Y.) and Ramy Ramzy of Albany College of Pharmacy (N.Y.)

No. 6 Embry-Riddle University opened the game with a 21-0 run and never looked back defeating Albany College of Pharmacy (N.Y.) 83-41. The Panthers struggled from the field in part to the Eagles' defensive presence and cold shooting missing their first 23 shots and finished shooting 9.7 percent (3-for-31) in the first half. The second half was much more respectable for ACP getting outscored by just nine 35-26 and shot 34.3 percent (12-for-35).
ERAU's William Benjamin registered career-highs in points (18), rebounds (11) and minutes (24) to lead all Eagle scorers, while Drew Whitaker added 13, Denver Cobb popped for 12 and Murat Hisarkaya finished with 10.
The Eagles will face Eastern Connecticut State in the Championship game at 8 p.m., while Medaille (N.Y.) will face ACP in the consolation game at 4 p.m.
