ERAU Stung at SCAD Invitational

SAVANNAH, Ga. - The volleyball team played in the first day of the SCAD Invitational on Friday and dropped both games.

ERAU (11-12) faced Berry (14-8) first and lost in three 21-30, 27-30, and 22-30.

With Berry up 15-4, ERAU went on a 6-0 run led by two service aces by Savannah Trakes to bring the Eagles within five. Just three points later, ERAU was within two points but Berry pulled ahead and won by nine.

Game two was much closer as each team added onto their total little by little. The teams were tied up at 22, 25 and 26 but Berry added four of the last five points of the game to its total for the victory.

In game three and down 10-14 to Berry, ERAU battled veraciously to tie the score at 20. Berry responded with a 10-2 run to end the game and match.

ERAU then faced #19 Campbellsville. After losing game one to the Tigers, the Eagles did not go down easily in game two. En route to the score being even at 13, the crowd at Savannah High School witnessed 11 ties.

The Eagles then sprung forward on two Tiger errors and kills from Marissa Gonzales and Janelle Marinos to go ahead 17-13. Campbellsville went on a 6-2 run to reclaim the lead at 21-19. ERAU and Campbellsville traded the next three points for a score of 22-21 Tigers. Campbellsville then put together a 8-2 streak, including two aces amidst five consecutive points, for the game two victory.

The Eagles fell 19-30 in game three, giving the Tigers a 3-0 victory (16-10, 23-30, 19-30).

The Eagles will play two matches on Saturday beginning with an early morning matchup with Webber International at 8 a.m.
