Eagles Topped by Bees on Senior Day

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - One match after Jenni Nelsen's fifteen-match service ace streak was stopped, she served five aces in the Eagles 1-3 loss to the top Florida Sun Conference team, Savannah College of Art & Design (30-28, 26-30, 21-30, 22-30).

In game one, Embry-Riddle began to pull away in the head to head battle for points after the score was tied at 19, going up 27-22. SCAD made an attempt to come back as ERAU attack errors padded the Bee's score. With SCAD within one point, 28-27, sophomore Rebecca Heller subbed into the game and completed the attack to put the team up 29-27. The game was wrapped up by an attack error by a SCAD hitter.

The Bees opened up their swing in the final three games, topping off the Eagles three games to one. SCAD outhit the Eagles .227 to .091, completing 62 attacks. SCAD moves to 21-10 on the season and 13-1 in the FSC. Embry-Riddle is 16-15 and 10-4 in the FSC.

ERAU volleyball honored three seniors, Bridget Kirckof, Janelle Marinos and Rachel Ridder in their final home match of their careers at the ICI Center. Marinos led the Eagles with 14 kills and 19 digs. Ridder marked 18 digs and two service aces, while Kirckof had eight digs. Savannah Trakes had 13 kills and 13 digs. Marissa Gonzales had 39 assists and 15 digs. Nelsen also had seven kills.
