Embry-Riddle Men?s Tennis Blanks Benedictine

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. ? No. 4 Embry-Riddle men's tennis improved its overall record to 11-1 with a 9-0 win over No. 12 Benedictine on Friday. The loss drops the Ravens to 5-5 on the year.

The Eagles' first doubles point went to Carlos Bes Comeras and Istvan Bolgar who downed Robert Hikel and Cristian Garcia 8-4. Next off the court was the No. 3 duo of Tomoaki Yasuda and Luke Maricic who pulled out an 8-5 win over Pablo Montesi and Clifford Lubbe. At the top spot, Mislav Hizak and Konstantin Lazarov held off Donik Arabyan and Sergey Plotnikov 8-5 to give the Eagles a 3-0 lead.

Hizak was the first to finish his singles match, easily handling Hikel 6-0, 6-0.

After a six-match break, Bolgar returned to singles play against Plotnikev and registered a 6-1, 6-1 win to clinch the match for the Blue and Gold.

Lazarov extended his unbeaten streak in dual matches to 11-0 with a 6-2, 6-2 decision over Arabyan. Bes Comeras bested Garcia 6-3, 6-1, Yasuda downed Montesi 6-2, 6-4 and Maricic closed out the evening with a 6-3, 6-3 defeat of Lubbe.

The Eagles will be back on the court at 4 p.m. on Saturday when they host NCAA I St. Louis at the Crotty Tennis Complex.
