DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- The Embry-Riddle women's tennis team suffered its fifth loss of the season Tuesday as NCAA I Xavier (Ohio) claimed an 8-1 win at the Crotty Tennis Complex.
The Eagles found themselves down early as the Musketeers won all three doubles points. Jennifer Fieder and Kate Lohner blanked Marga Rico-Jimenez and Sara Abraul 8-0 at the third position, Jill Ducro and Anne Diedalis topped Hana Im and Kerinn Meisenbach 8-4, and Kaitlyn Zinn and Kara Courtney held off Natalie Anaya and Lindsey Kurtz 9-7 at the top spot.
In singles action Xavier bested the Eagles at five of the six positions to seal the win.
Im recorded the Eagles' only singles win, defeating Jackie Villnes 5-7, 6-0, 10-7 at No. 1.
The Embry-Riddle women return to the court at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday when they host No. 15 Brenau.
