Eagles Top Bobcats, 3-1

Miami Lakes, Fla. ? The Embry-Riddle Eagles picked up their 21st win on Saturday as they topped the St. Thomas Bobcats in a four set match (25-9, 25-23, 20-25, 25-15).

Marissa Gonzales served ten consecutive points for the Eagles in set one, moving the score from 14-8 to 23-8. She had two service aces on the run, while assisting eight kills in the set. She ended the day with 45 assists.

The second set was a back-and-forth battle, as every time the Eagles would go on a run the Bobcats would come back with a few points of their own. With the Eagles leading 24-21 the Bobcats climbed back to within one point off of key kills by their outside and middle hitters. The Eagles solidified the second set win on a kill by Abby Hall.

The Bobcats out-hit the Eagles in the third set on their way to a set victory. STU completing 14 of their 35 attempts, hold the Eagles to a .158 hitting percentage.

The Eagles rebounded in the fourth set, marking a 0.81 side-out percentage.

Hall marked her 12th double-double of the season as she tallied a new career-high of 21 kills in the match as well as digging up 12 attacks. Savannah Trakes also posted a double-double with 10 kills and 15 digs. It was her fourth double-double of the year.

Corey Dobridnia and Jenni Nelsen had seven kills each. Nelsen also had one solo block and two assisted blocks as Dobridnia had four assisted blocks in the match.

The Blue and Gold will step on the court on Wednesday, October 22nd at the ICI Center against St. Francis (Ill.). The match will begin at 7 p.m.
