DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. ? The fourth-ranked Vanguard women's tennis team won all three doubles points en route to an 8-1 victory over No. 9 Embry-Riddle on Friday at the Crotty Tennis Complex.
The Lions' first win was at No. 2 doubles as Jelena Jovic and Betyel Tesfa got an 8-2 win over Lindsey Kurtz and Natalie Anaya. Anna Valingsten and Olivia Amstad defeated Marga Rico Jimenez and Sara Abraúl 8-4 and Damia Donkervoort and Hana Jurcovicova topped Natasa Zoricic and Hana Im 8-4 to take a 3-0 lead into singles play.
Vanguard sealed the victory with wins at the top five singles spots to improve their overall record to 15-2, but the Eagles got a win back at the sixth spot as Abraúl bested Amstad 6-2, 5-7, 10-3.
The Eagles are now 8-4 on the year and will play their next two matches on the road as they travel to Babson Park and Lake Wales to take on Webber International and Warner Southern, respectively, in a conference doubleheader on Wednesday.
