Embry-Riddle Women End Season in NAIA Quarterfinals

MOBILE, Ala. ? Eight-time national champion Auburn University at Montgomery won all three doubles points and points at No. 4 and No. 6 singles to top the Embry-Riddle women's tennis team 5-0 in the quarterfinal round of the NAIA Women's Tennis National Tournament on Wednesday.

 

AUM went up 3-0 as Delia Sescioreanu and Tereza Veverkova downed Natasa Zoricic and Hana Im 8-1 and Khaoly Berthe and Rachel Dunlavy blanked Sara Abraúl and Marga Rico Jimenez 8-0.

 

ERAU seniors Natalie Anaya and Lindsey Kurtz battled hard at No. and stayed on serve with Kamila Dadakhodjeva and Nadia Lysak through the first four games, but were unable to pull off the upset, falling 8-4.

 

The first singles match off the court was at the No. 6 spot where Berthe topped Abraúl 6-0, 6-0.

 

Veverkova clinched the win for the Senators with a 6-1, 6-0 win over Anaya at No. 5.

 

Embry-Riddle closes out the season with a 13-8 overall record. The Eagles matched their best season finish, closing out the 2008 campaign in the national quarterfinals
