Eagles Top Lions

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - The Embry-Riddle Eagles volleyball team picked up its second conference win and 11th win of the season on Friday evening as they played the first of their six game homestand, topping the Florida Memorial Lions in three sets (25-6, 25-8, 25-11).

The Lions were held to a negative hitting percentage as the Eagles picked up huge blocks as well as 24 digs to cause FMU to have 16 attacking errors. On offense, the Eagles hit .443 for the game, completing 36 of their 70 attacks. The team also had 15 service aces, the second highest they have had this season.

The Eagles hitters were led by freshman Abby Hall with 9 kills. She also had five service aces, a solo block and two block assists. Senior Corey Dobridnia had seven kills in two sets, accompanied by one block assist. The Sun Conference Player of the Week, Alana Martinez hit .750 in two sets, completing six of her eight attack attempts. She had one solo block and two assisted blocks. Marissa Gonzales had 25 assists in the match.

The Blue and Gold will step on the court on Saturday as they host St. Thomas at 2 p.m. in the ICI Center.
