SAVANNAH, Ga. ? The ninth-ranked Savannah College of Art and Design women's tennis team won all three doubles points en route to a 7-2 win over sixth-ranked Embry-Riddle in Sun Conference action on Saturday.
SCAD started off with a win at No. 1 doubles as Irina Pljusznyin and Hillary Collins blanked
Natasa Zoricic and
Julija Stojkovska 8-0. Courtney Collins and Romina Mrochen topped
Hana Im and Mathilda Engstrom 8-5 and Charlotte Debrey and Stephanie Gula bested
Sara Abraul and
Marga Rico Jimenez 8-5 to give the Bees a 3-0 lead.
Courtney Collins defeated Mathilda Engstrom 6-0, 6-0 at No. 4 singles and Mrochen followed with a 6-2, 6-4 win over Stojkovska to clinch the win.
The Eagles got wins at the No. 2 and No. 5 positions as Im won a three-setter over Hillary Collins (5-7, 7-6 (2), 10-6) and Rico Jimenez downed Debrey 6-3, 6-2.
The Eagles return to the friendly confines of the Crotty Tennis Complex on Saturday when they host Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College at noon.
