DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. ? The Embry-Riddle women's tennis team wrapped up second place in The Sun Conference regular season standings with an easy 9-0 win over Warner on Tuesday. The Eagle women blanked the Royals in all three doubles and all six singles matches to improve their overall record to 8-6 and their league mark to 4-1.
Despite minor changes to the regular line-up the Eagles walked away with a trio of 8-0 victories in doubles as Mathilda Engstrom and
Hana Im downed Maria Walter and Julia Valentine at No. 1,
Julija Stojkovska and
Sara Abraul topped Amanda Pontious and Kelly Bamman at No. 2 and
Marga Rico Jimenez and
Natasa Zoricic completed the sweep with a win over Morgan Bromley and Tara Fadenrecht at No. 3.
Stojkovska was the first to finish her match at No. 3 and Im quickly followed with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Valentine at No. 2 to clinch the win.
Rico Jimenez, Abraul and Engstrom posted shutouts at the fourth through sixth positions to seal the win.
The Eagles next match will be against Lynn at 10 a.m. on Saturday. Lynn is currently ranked fourth in the NCAA II national poll.
