MOBILE, Ala. – After a 1-0 victory over Belhaven on Friday the NAIA No. 10 ranked Eagles fell to host school Mobile by the same score. The loss was just the Eagles' second on the season as their record fell to 6-2; Mobile improved their mark to 2-4 on the year.
The game was played on the Rams' practice field, the fourth game in two days the pitch had held. The muddy conditions had a hand in the amount of scoring opportunities for both teams. The game featured eight yellow cards and one red card between the two teams as both teams attempted to gain the upper hand.
The lone goal of the game came in the second half at the 66:55 mark off a corner kick by Mobile. As the ball crossed the net both teams scrambled for it, but it was Ram David Maddren who was able to finish the play and give the host school the 1-0 victory.
The Eagles held the edge in shots 16-11 and had their share of opportunities in front of the net but were unable to capitalize. The Blue and Gold also had more corner kicks than Mobile 9-5. Junior Ryan Maloney led ERAU with five shots.
Embry-Riddle next plays on Thursday at 7:00 p.m. at the Embry-Riddle Soccer Stadium when they play host to Sun Conference opponent Warner.
