DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The Eagles' volleyball team failed to
lose a set en route to their second win in the opening day of the Bahama House
Invitational, as they took three quick sets from the Blue Raiders of Lindsey
Wilson (25-17, 25-19, 25-17).
Abby Hall led the way in the first set, capitalizing on four
of her eight attempts, while Julia Frassetto picked up 14 digs on the defensive
end. The Eagles recorded a .82 side-out percentage in set one, guiding the way
to their 25-17 victory.
The Blue Raiders came out strong in set two, as back-to-back
aces put Lindsey Wilson up, 2-0. The Eagles tied the game at 4-4 after a Blue
Raider attack error and battled for the lead for the next six points. Two EU
errors saw ERAU up 11-9, as Alana Martinez served three straight points for the
Eagles. The Blue and Gold continued to lead for the remainder of the set and
closed it out, 25-19, after an EU service error.
Set three highlighted Jordan Holcomb's seven point run that
saw the Eagles jump ahead 13-8. The Blue Raiders were unable to close the gap
for the remainder of the set, as a kill by Taylor Martin ended the match for
the Eagles, 25-17.
Hall led all hitters with eight kills, while Savannah Trakes
and Holcomb contributed six each for the Blue and Gold. Frassetto marked 16
kills in the three-set match, while Adriana Vazquez notched 24 assists.
