No. 6 Eagles Roll to 67-59 Win Over No. 22 Warner

LAKE WALES, Fla. – The Embry-Riddle men's basketball extended their unbeaten record in conference play to 5-0 with a 69-57 victory over No. 22 Warner in Sun Conference action on Tuesday. The win marked the first time in program history that the Eagles captured back-to-back road wins against ranked opponents after topping No. 3 Northwood on Saturday and Warner on Tuesday.

David Butler led the way for the Eagles with 14 points and four blocks off the bench. Ray Graham finished with 13 points and six rebounds, and Eric Lorenzi tallied 11 points and a game-high eight boards to help the Eagles to 15-3 on the year.

The Royals wasted no time getting on the board, scoring their first basket just three seconds into the game. After a Lorenzi miss, the Royals took the ball back down the floor and controlled the offensive rebounds to increase the margin to 4-0 at the 19:21 mark.

The Eagles were not fazed by Warner's quick start and came back with nine unanswered points to surge ahead 9-4. The Eagles led by eight at the 8:37 mark, but a jumper by Adam Branch triggered a 6-0 Royal run that cut the lead to two points at 17-15. That was as close as the Royals would get as Glenn Dalcourt hit one of his two three-point baskets to spark a 12-4 run that resulted in a 13-point (34-21) Eagle lead at the half.

The Eagle offense came out strong to start the second half as a Danny Krazit three-pointer and a dunk by Graham made it an 18-point game. The Warner defense continued to battle hard, registering three blocks and forcing nine Eagle turnovers in the second half, but the Eagles were still able to increase the advantage to 23 points (61-38) with 5:40 left in the contest.

Warner exhibited a never-say-die attitude down the stretch and managed to cut the margin to 64-52 with 2:22 remaining. Following a 9-3 Royal run, ERAU head coach Steve Ridder burned a timeout to settle his team and the strategy worked as the Eagles, despite increased Warner pressure, regained their composure down the stretch to come away with the 12-point win.

Warner's Derrell Henderson finished as the game's high scorer with 24 points, while Brennan Taylor added 12 points to the Royals' score line. Warner is now 12-6 on the year and 3-3 in league play.

The Eagles return to the friendly confines of the ICI Center for back-to-back conference match-ups against Florida Memorial on Friday and St. Thomas on Saturday. Both games are slated for 7 p.m.
