NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - The Embry-Riddle men's and women's track squads competed at the Vince Brown Invitational on Saturday and came away hitting six standard marks for the NAIA National Championship.
On the women's side Breanna Goring broke a school record in the 55m hurdles with a time of 9.01.
Freshman Taylor Russell ran two personal bests in the 55m dash (7.44) and the 200m dash (26.44). Both times missed the B-standard by .02 seconds.
In the mile, Julie Mayfield hit an A-standard with a time of 5:13.58. Also in the mile, Erika Langhauser ran a personal best 5:21.00.
Samia Adan hit an A-standard in the 800m with a time of 2:13.27.
In the 3000m Flo Vazquez ran a 10:38.00 which gave her a B-standard qualifying time.
The women's distance medley relay team also hit an A-standard for the Eagles in a time of 12:45.01. The team consisted of Langhauser, Beatrice Enckell, Adan and Mayfield.
The Embry-Riddle men also hit a standard when the distance medley relay team ran a 10:29.00 to hit a B-standard. Mallory Jackson, Kevin Bray, Laquardo Newbold and Sam Vazquez were the participants in that event.
Russell Snyder just missed a B-standard in the 3,000m with a time of 8:57:00.
Newbold ran the 800m in a time of 1:57.2, just missing the B-standard by 0.2 seconds.
"We had a good meet," Head Coach Mike Rosolino said of the day's events. "We had a lot of near misses on standards and a lot of people improved which is always good to see."
The Eagles will travel back to Daytona Beach for the ERAU Last Chance on Feb. 19-20 on the campus of Embry-Riddle.
