WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – The No. 12 Embry-Riddle volleyball team improved to 7-0 in Sun Conference play with a 3-0 victory (25-11, 25-12, 25-16) at Northwood on Saturday afternoon. The Blue and Gold move to 13-6 overall while the Seahawks fall to 8-17, 1-4 in league play.
 
ERAU was very efficient offensively, hitting .434 for the match with just nine attack errors. Taylor Ruiz and Emily Jacobson each racked up 10 kills to lead all players while Ruiz and Hannah Gray each picked up a match-high 11 digs. Tamires Ferreira tallied a match-high 21 assists and Erin McIntyre compiled 12 assists as the Eagles' setter in the third frame.
 
Nikki McKown led the Seahawks with six kills while Nicole Papineau registered a team-leading 10 assists and Danielle Lampman recorded a team-high eight digs.
 
The Eagles established an early lead in the first set, using a 6-2 run to pull out to a 12-6 advantage. Seven consecutive points pushed the lead to 21-9 and Ferreira ended the frame with a kill to give Embry-Riddle a 25-11 win and a 1-0 lead in the match.
 
Ferreira scored a kill to cap a 7-1 run to open the second set. A kill from Jacobson built the lead up to double-digits at 16-6 and another Ferreira kill closed out the set at 25-12, putting the Eagles ahead two sets to none.
 
The Seahawks got off to a better start in set three, taking a 6-4 lead early on. A Jacobson kill sparked a 6-0 run that helped the Eagles regain the lead, which they would not relinquish. Back-to-back kills from Jennifer Beatty made it 14-8 and a block from Ruiz and Morgan Shattuck put the Blue and Gold up, 18-11. The Eagles closed out the match on a 5-1 run with Ruiz finishing off the Seahawks with her 10th kill, ending the third set at 25-16 to complete the 3-0 sweep.
 
Embry-Riddle returns to action on Friday, Oct. 25, when the Eagles travel to Georgetown, Ky. for the Boneyard Brawl hosted by Georgetown College. ERAU will face No. 2 Texas at Brownsville and No. 14 Bellevue on Friday before facing off against No. 24 Georgetown and Indiana Wesleyan on Saturday, Oct. 26.
