DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The 14th-ranked Embry-Riddle volleyball team swept Coastal Georgia 3-0 (25-23, 25-17, 25-19) on Wednesday night to extend its winning streak to six matches. Five players had at least six kills for the Blue and Gold, who improved to 11-5 on the season, while the Mariners fell to 12-8.

The visitors came out looking to pull the upset early on, leading for a majority of the first set. The Eagles needed a 6-1 run just to pull even at 18-18 and it wasn't until a pair of Kara Neisen errors that ERAU finally took a two-point lead at 23-21. Neisen atoned for her errors with back-to-back kills to tie the set at 23-all, only to see Morgan Shattuck and Taylor Ruiz wrap up the frame with kills to give ERAU a 25-23 win in the first set.

Neither side was able to establish a lead of more than four points in the second set until the Eagles went on a 6-0 run, keyed by three Emily Jacobson blocks, to pull ahead, 23-16. Three points later, Jacobson ended the set with a solo block at 25-17 in favor of the home team, putting Embry-Riddle ahead in the match, 2-0.

ERAU scored six consecutive points to turn a 6-5 deficit into an 11-6 lead early on in the third set, and the Eagles didn't trail from that point. A block by Shattuck and Cailey Washington extended the lead to 17-9 and a kill from Jennifer Beatty finally ended things at 25-19, giving the Blue and Gold a 3-0 sweep.

Shattuck led the Eagles with nine kills and hit .474, while Jacobson added eight kills and nine blocks (three solo) to go along with a .538 hitting percentage. Ruiz chipped in with eight kills and Beatty contributed six kills in addition to 13 digs. Hannah Gray collected a match-high 23 digs and Tamires Ferreira tallied 10 digs, seven kills and three blocks to go along with a match-leading 31 assists.

Neisen recorded a match-high 12 kills and added eight digs for CCG, while Holly Hammer registered eight kills, seven digs and three blocks. Kansas Robison picked up a team-high 21 digs and Cayley Meiners tied Ferreira for the match lead with 31 assists and added 10 digs.

The Eagles return to action on Friday, Oct. 4, when they travel to Lakeland, Fla. for a non-conference contest at NCAA II Florida Southern. The match is scheduled for a 7 p.m. start. Live stats will be available at www.erauathletics.com.
