BRUNSWICK, Ga. – The 19th-ranked Embry-Riddle volleyball team played the role of spoilers on Tuesday night, as the Blue and Gold took down Coastal Georgia on the Mariners' Senior Night at the Coffin Gym. The Eagles improved to 17-9 with the win, while CCGA fell to 23-10.

Taylor Ruiz led all players with a career-high 20 kills to go along with 11 digs, marking her seventh double-double of the season. Jennifer Beatty (15 kills, 11 digs) also had a double-double, her ninth of the year. Hannah Gray picked up a match-high 22 digs while Tamires Ferreira finished one kill shy of a triple-double with nine kills, 11 digs and a match-leading 48 assists.

Kara Neisen led the Mariners with 16 kills to go along with 12 digs while Maggie Bee collected a team-high 20 digs and Cayley Meiners tallied a team-best 40 assists in addition to 11 digs.

After taking a 3-0 lead in set one, CCGA rallied with five straight points to take its first lead, 5-3. A Beatty kill pushed the Eagles back in front, 13-12, as part of a 5-0 run that saw the lead grow to 16-12. Neisen put down back-to-back kills to put the home side back in the lead at 21-20 and it was Neisen who ended the set with another kill, giving the Mariners a 25-22 win.

A kill from Morgan Shattuck sparked a 6-0 run that helped the Eagles establish an 11-5 lead in set two. After CCGA pulled to within two points (11-9), ERAU bounced back with six straight points to regain the momentum and take a 17-9 lead. A Ruiz service ace made it 20-11 and a block from Shattuck and Caitlyn Ballard finished the frame with the Eagles winning, 25-15, to tie the match at a set apiece.

The Blue and Gold took advantage of consecutive ball-handling errors on Meiners to build an 11-6 advantage in the third set. Four straight Mariner errors pushed the margin to 16-9 and a Kansas Robison service error made it 21-14. CCGA mounted a bit of a comeback, getting to within four points on three occasions, but the Eagles finished off the set with a 25-19 win to take a 2-1 lead in the match.

Embry-Riddle got off to a strong start in the fourth set, establishing a commanding 8-2 lead early on. The Mariners fought back to close the gap to three points, but that was as close as they would get. A kill by Ballard made it 16-11 and a Beatty kill pushed it to 21-16. Ruiz put the final nail in the coffin with her 20th kill to give ERAU a 25-20 set win and a 3-1 match victory.

The Eagles return home for the final two regular season matches on Thursday (Nov. 7) and Saturday (Nov. 9). Northwood visits the ICI Center on Thursday for a 7 p.m. contest before Ave Maria comes to town for Saturday's Senior Day match at 2 p.m. Prior to Saturday's tilt, seniors Emily Jacobson, Leslie Roper, Morgan Shattuck and Cailey Washington will be honored. Both matches are part of Embry-Riddle's Homecoming Week (#ERAUHomecoming), and streaming audio and video as well as live stats will be available for both matches on erauathletics.com/live.
