DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The 19th-ranked Embry-Riddle volleyball team improved to 10-0 in Sun Conference play and 18-9 overall with a convincing 3-0 sweep (25-16, 25-15, 25-13) of Northwood on Thursday night at the ICI Center. The Seahawks dropped to 8-23 overall and 1-8 in league play.

Nikki McKown led the Seahawks with eight kills and added 10 digs. Danielle Lampman led the team with 11 digs while Nicole Papineau racked up a team-high 19 assists.

A pair of Ruiz kills early in the first set helped the Eagles to a 7-3 lead and a Ruiz service ace pushed the lead to 11-6. Ferreira put down a kill and followed it with consecutive service aces to make it 17-13 and Caitlyn Ballard scored a kill to build the margin to 21-15. The Blue and Gold finished the set with four unanswered points to take the frame, 25-16.

The Seahawks held a slim lead through the early stages of set two before the Eagles exploded for seven straight points to take a 13-7 lead. A Ruiz kill increased the lead to 17-10 and a block from Ferreira and Morgan Shattuck made it 21-13. Shattuck teamed up with Ballard for a double block that clinched the set, 25-15, giving ERAU a 2-0 lead in the match.

Ruiz put down a kill to cap a 5-1 run that Embry-Riddle opened the third set with, prompting Northwood Head Coach Chris Taylor to take an early timeout. A 4-0 run, comprised entirely of Seahawk errors, pushed the deficit to seven points (15-8), and another 4-0 run increased the margin to 19-10. Embry-Riddle closed out the match on a 6-2 run to win the third set, 25-13, sealing the 3-0 sweep.
