AT A GLANCE
With just three games left on the 2012-13 regular season schedule, the Embry-Riddle Eagles are looking to end their slate on a positive run with a pair of revenge games on the table in front of them. Webber International travels to Daytona Beach in fifth place in the league standings after being picked to finish seventh to begin the season. The Warriors knocked off then-No. 9 Embry-Riddle 70-63 in Babson Park on Jan. 25, and the Blue and Gold will have that in the back of its mind as WIU comes to the ICI Center on Wednesday evening.
WHAT TO WATCH FOR
The Warriors are one of the more athletic teams in the conference and give teams trouble in transition and in their defensive pressure. In the two teams' first meeting the Warriors forced 18 Eagle turnovers and scored 21 points off those turnovers to overcome a 14-point second half deficit in their upset victory. If the Eagles can take care of the basketball then their chances of winning Wednesday's game will be much improved compared to when they don't hold on to the basketball.
SCOUTING WEBBER INTERNATIONAL
The Warriors' team starts and ends with guard Brian Pace. WIU's explosive senior averages 17.7 points per game and 3.8 assists each contest. Pace scored 27 points, including a 4-for-8 clip from beyond the three-point arc, when the Eagles fell to the Warriors a month ago.
Tyler Auerbacher is the Warriors' second leading scorer at 14.2 points per game. Auerbacher shoots 32.5 percent from three, and has made 50 of them in 2012-13.
LAST GAME: No. 21 Eagles Win Third Straight, Down Bobcats 72-63
MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – After trailing by as many as eight points in the first half, No. 21 Embry-Riddle outscored No. 12 St. Thomas 46-35 in the second half to take a 72-63 win over the Bobcats in Sun Conference action on Saturday night. The win improved the Eagle's overall record to 21-6 overall (8-5 in league play) and moves the Blue and Gold into a three-way tie in the win column for second with Ave Maria and St. Thomas.
19 ON FIVE OCCASSIONS...WAITING ON 20
Jason Powell has scored 19 points in five different games in the 2012-13 season, all in the 2013 calendar, year, every time tying a career-high, but has yet to reach the 20-point mark as an Eagle. Powell is averaging 15.5 points since the Christmas break and is at 12.1 per game over the course of the season.
QUARTER CENTURY OF EAGLE BASKETBALL
The 2012-13 season marks the 25th edition of Eagle basketball and Embry-Riddle athletics overall. The basketball, baseball, men's tennis and men's golf programs began in the 1988-89 academic year and were the foundation the rest of the department was built upon.
Embry-Riddle is 576-240 in 25 seasons, capturing eight conference regular season titles, nine conference tournament titles, claiming 17 NAIA All-America honors, 15 Honorable Mention All-American honors and reaching the pinnacle of NAIA basketball in 2000 when the Eagles won the NAIA II National Championship.
