DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The Embry-Riddle volleyball team dominated the net on Friday night, racking up 13 blocks in a 3-0 sweep (25-17, 25-11, 25-16) of visiting Webber International. The Eagles, ranked 14th in the NAIA, improve to 9-5 overall and 4-0 in Sun Conference matches, while the Warriors fall to 9-7 and 1-2 in league action.
 
The Blue and Gold fell behind 4-0 early after committing attack errors on three straight points, but the home team would eventually get on track, using a 5-0 run to take its first lead of the match at 11-10. Another 5-0 spurt that included two blocks from Emily Jacobson extended the lead to 19-13 and yet another Jacobson block pushed the lead to 22-14. The Eagles would go on to take the first set, 25-17, to establish a 1-0 lead in the match.
 
Set two saw Embry-Riddle find its stride right away, scoring the first five points en route to taking a 12-6 lead early on. A block from Morgan Shattuck and Tamires Ferreira built the lead to 16-8 and a Taylor Ruiz kill made it 19-10 Eagles. The Blue and Gold closed out the second set with six unanswered points to win by a score of 25-11, taking a 2-0 lead in the match.
 
The Warriors matched the Eagles for the first 16 points of the third set, but an 8-0 run turned an 8-8 tie into a commanding 16-8 lead for ERAU. Morgan Shattuck put down a kill to cap three straight points that made it 19-9, marking the largest lead of the third set for Embry-Riddle. After WIU cut the deficit to just five points (21-16), Jacobson combined with Cailey Washington for a block to spark a 4-0 run that ended the set (25-16), clinching the 3-0 sweep for the Eagles.
 
Jennifer Beatty led all players with nine kills while Ruiz and Shattuck each chipped in with five kills. Shattuck added six blocks and Jacobson tallied a match-high seven blocks (one solo). Hannah Gray was solid in the back row, picking up a match-leading 20 digs while Tamires Ferreira contributed in a number of ways, recording four kills, six blocks, two service aces, 10 digs and a match-high 22 assists.
 
Taylor Eiken led the Warriors with eight kills, though she also committed 11 attack errors. Sophia Johnston had five kills and a team-high nine digs while Katie Lindstrom also recorded a team-high nine digs along with a team-best 20 assists.
