DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - The duo of Evelina Abdurakhmanova (13 kills, eight digs) and Jennifer Beatty (12 kills, six digs) continued to lead the Eagle offense on Thursday night, helping the Blue and Gold to a 3-0 (25-13, 25-17, 25-13) victory over visiting Northwood. ERAU improved to 18-9, 12-1 in conference, while the Seahawks dropped to 11-18, 5-8 in league play.
Erika Hinel and Ella Duggan each contributed five kills in the win, while Hannah Gray had 14 digs and Tamires Ferreira racked up 39 assists. Gray surpassed the 2,000-dig mark in the match, becoming the first player in school history to reach that plateau.
Sydney Fish led the Seahawks with six kills while former Eagle Veera Hietala had a team-high 11 digs and Nicole Papineau registered a team-leading 12 assists.
The Eagles were dominant from start to finish, leading for all but one point of the match. ERAU hit .444 in the first set while limiting the Seahawks to a .045 hitting percentage, allowing the Blue and Gold to run away with a 25-13 win in the frame.
Embry-Riddle started strong in the second set, running out to a 12-4 lead early on. The lead grew as large as nine points on three different occasions and the Blue and Gold were never threatened, cruising to a 25-17 set win.
ERAU kept the momentum going in set three, jumping ahead by 10 points (13-3) after just 16 rallies. The advantage ballooned to as much as 13 (24-11) before the Eagles finished the set with a 25-13 win, sealing the 3-0 sweep.
Embry-Riddle wraps up the regular season on Saturday, Nov. 8 at home against Ave Maria. Saturday will be Senior Day, with seniors Jennifer Beatty and Hannah Gray being honored prior to the match. There will also be an alumni match featuring approximately 20 former Embry-Riddle volleyball players, which is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. Finally, the Eagle volleyball team would like to invite all fans to an ice cream social, which will take place in the ICI Center behind the north bleachers following the team's match against Ave Maria.
