ORMOND BEACH, Fla. -
Tyler Green broke the Embry-Riddle men's golf program record with a 65 on Saturday, leading the Eagles to a win over 22nd-ranked Flagler at Riviera Country Club in a dual match. Green also matched Jackson Koert's (-6) score in 2011, while the Blue and Gold shot a 280 as a team, the third-lowest single round score in program history.
ERAU's 280 (-4) was three shots better than the No. 22 Saints' 283 (-1) just a few weeks after finishing 44 strokes back of Flagler at the Jay Jennison Memorial Tournament in St. Augustine.
Following Green was
Joshua Hickling's 71 (E), matching his career-low score, while a trio of Eagles shot a one-over 72: Josh Kennison,
Adam LaGrange and
Christian Joseph Smith. Competing as individuals for the Eagles were
Quinn Guzman (73) ,
Caleb Bryant (76) and
Seth Courtney (86). Guzman and Smith were competing in their first collegiate event on Saturday, while Courtney made his Embry-Riddle debut.
"This was a big win for us ove the 22nd-ranked team in NCAA II," Head Coach
Ken Staton said.
Embry-Riddle will have several weeks to prepare for its' final fall event at the end of the month as Rollins hosts the McDonough Cup in Orlando, Oct. 30-Nov. 1 at the Rio Pinar Golf Course.
