BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Embry-Riddle men's soccer team suffered a 4-0 road loss to the Lynn Fighting Knights on Saturday. The Eagles' record drops to 2-7-3 while the Fighting Knights improve to 12-1-1.
Richard Dearle manned the net for the Eagles recording seven saves. Lynn outshot the Blue and Gold 29-6.
The Fighting Knights took control of the game early, taking the first five shots within the seven-minute mark.
Embry-Riddle fought back earning two potential scoring opportunities in the 22
nd minute but Lynn defenders kept the Eagles off of the scoreboard for the half.
It wasn't until the 38
th minute that Lynn found the back of the net and took the lead resulting in a 1-0 score at halftime.
The Eagles attempted to even the score in the 46
th minute when
Pierre Hertin took a clear path down the left side and passed across the box to
Moriba Ballah who was unable to get past LU defenders to receive the pass.
The Fighting Knights took advantage of the second half and continued to build their lead. Watson scored two of the LU goals in the 67
th and 71
st minute while a shot by Bruno Militz was deflected off of an Eagle defender to score the final Fighting Knights' goal in the 74
th minute.
The Eagles had one last scoring opportunity in the 81
st minute with a promising shot on goal by
Knutur Bjornsson that went just wide of the net.
The Eagles travel to Winter Park on Saturday, October 29 to take on Rollins at 7 p.m.
