DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The Embry-Riddle softball team fell to Rollins, 7-1 on Tuesday night.
Robi Zimmerman and
Rae Heuer highlighted the contest for the Eagles by hitting a double each. The Eagles are now 28-12 on the year while Rollins improves to 33-7-1.
Game – RC 7, ERAU 1
Rollins scored the first run of the game in the top of the second. Chelsea Reed got a lead off walk and made her way around to score.
The Tars added to their lead in the top of the third, scoring four runs on three straight hits. One of which was a double to left center field by Brittany Johnson.
With a 5-0 lead the visitors added a solo home run to their score line in the top of the fourth. Tiffany Osmanski launched a shot over to dead center field.
The Tars upped their advantage to 7-0 in the top of the sixth but the Eagles got one back in the bottom half of the inning. With two outs,
Kassidy Simons reached base on an infield single. Zimmerman followed that up with a slicing drive to right field for a double to score Simons.
In the bottom of the seventh the Blue and Gold threatened as Heuer had a leadoff double to begin the inning. She advanced to third on a ground out by
Kailah Rain but was unable to cross home plate as the Tars retired the Eagles to win, 7-1.
Zimmerman recorded the loss in the circle for the Eagles, dropping to 6-5 while striking out one.
Alice Donohoe also pitched in the game, allowing two runs and striking out three.
Embry-Riddle finishes out the series against Rollins tomorrow, April 13 at 4pm.
