@ERAUMSoccer Downed by Florida Southern, 2-1

LAKELAND, Fla. – The Embry-Riddle men's soccer team struck first at Florida Southern on Saturday night, but the Eagles ultimately fell to the Mocs by a 2-1 score. FSC answered the Eagles' opening goal within 10 minutes and scored the game-winner with less than four minutes to play. ERAU fell to 1-7-1 (0-6-1 SSC) with the loss, while Florida Southern improved to 6-3-0 (4-2-0 SSC) with the victory.

Tim-Frederik Lange got the Blue and Gold on the board first, scoring his first goal as an Eagle on an assist from Cole Tepper in the 17th minute to put ERAU ahead, 1-0. The lead would prove to be short-lived, as FSC answered back with a Rene Rivera goal in the 27th minute, tying the game at 1-1.

The Mocs put pressure on the Eagle defense throughout the first half, outshooting ERAU 13-4, including eight shots on goal in the period. Eagle goalkeeper Richard Dearle was solid in net, making seven first-half saves to keep the Blue and Gold in the game.

The Eagles came out in the second period and played a much more even game with the Mocs, earning five corner kicks to FSC's three, while nearly equaling them in shots (6-5) and shots on goal (3-2). Despite putting just three shots on frame in the half, Florida Southern was able to convert on its final attempt, as Daniel Moore headed home a free kick from Christoph Gums to score the game-winner with just 3:33 left in the game.

Dearle finished with nine saves while Lange had ERAU's lone goal and two of the team's nine shot attempts.

Embry-Riddle will step out of conference play to host Flagler on Wednesday, Oct. 18 at 7 p.m. at the Embry-Riddle Soccer Stadium.
