Warhawks Send @ERAUMBasketball to Bahama House Shootout Consolation Game with 101-92 Win

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - The Bahama House Shootout championship game will not feature the Embry-Riddle Eagles for the first time in tournament history as Auburn Montgomery got a career night from Michael Bryant en route to a 101-92 win over the host Eagles on Friday night. The Eagles (3-3) couldn't keep pace with the Warhawks (3-2) from the field as AUM shot 56 percent from the floor, including a blistering 64 percent in the second half, compared to ERAU's 49 percent clip, while the visitors forced 17 Eagle turnovers and turned those into 21 points.

Bryant, who entered the game having scored a total of 10 points in AUM's previous four games, erupted for 34 points, seven rebounds, three assists and three steals, connecting on all eight of his three-point attempts to pace the Warhawk offense. Bryant's 24 first-half points led all scorers, and even though the Eagles shot 60 percent in the opening period, they found themselves trailing by three, 50-47 after Bryant hit a three at the buzzer to give AUM the halftime advantage.

ERAU got back-to-back triples from Elijah Jenkins and Rudy Bibb-Boyd to start the game before Nashad Mackey made good on a jumper in the paint for an 8-0 lead, but the Eagles couldn't pull away early and the Warhawks climbed back into the, eventually tying it on an Airen Brooks trey at the 10:20 mark, making it 24-24. Brooks hit another triple on the next possession to give AUM its first lead before Luka Majstorovic answered with a jumper on the other end.

Trailing 31-28, the Eagles got a three from Bibb-Boyd to tie things up before Cole Hunter gave ERAU back the lead with a layup, but a three from Kenneth Keith pushed the visitors back in front. Hunter again gave the Blue and Gold the lead on a three a few moments later, and Bibb-Boyd connected on two free throws to give ERAU a 38-34 lead with 5:46 left in the half. After a Majstorovic jumper increased the Eagle lead to six, the visitors got a four-point play from Darrion Taylor and a jumper from Jarrett Croff to knot the game at 40-40, and even though ERAU was once again able to push a lead out to five with 2:11 left, the Warhawks ended the period on an 8-0 run, capped by Bryant's three for the 50-47 lead at the break.

The Eagles trimmed the lead to one point twice in the early goings of the second half, the second time on a Jenkins three to make it 57-56, but the Warhawks continued to answer on their offensive end, and starting at the 15:12 mark, went on a 17-4 run that included 14 points in the paint, to race out to a 78-63 lead with 11:23 left. Joshua Hawkins was able to stop the run with a three, but ERAU couldn't get the deficit under 10 until under five minutes left.

A Jenkins trey with 4:36 on the clock made it 89-81 in favor of AUM, but the Warhawks got a jumper in the paint as the shot clock expired to keep momentum and the closest the Eagles got was within seven on a pair of Hawkins free throws with 92 seconds left. A fastbreak layup by AUM working against the Eagle press put AUM up nine and the Eagles missed their last three triples as AUM iced the game away down the stretch.

AUM had four players in double-figures, led by Bryant's 34, while ERAU had five score in double-digits, paced by a career-high 24 points from Mackey. Mackey registered his fourth double-double of the season with 16 rebounds, while also rejecting three shots. Bibb-Boyd went for 21 points with three assists and two steals and Jenkins finished with a career-best 17 points on 6-of-9 shooting. Majstorovic fell one board shy of a double-double with 11 points and nine rebounds, and Hawkins finished with 10 points, four assists and four steals.

ERAU will take on Wingate in the consolation game tomorrow, Saturday, Nov. 25 at 2 p.m. after Wingate suffered a 78-58 loss to West Alabama in Friday's opener. UWA and AUM will meet up at 4 p.m. in the Bahama House Shootout title game.
