DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The Embry-Riddle softball team was shut out by Barry 2-0 on Thursday. The Eagles' record is now 22-21 while the Buccaneers move to 18-23 on the season.
The Buccaneers got their first hit of the game in the third inning with a two-out solo home run to take the lead.
The Eagles had an opportunity to answer with two runners in scoring position and only one out in the bottom half of the inning, but ERAU could not find any big hits to push runs through before the inning ended.
In the fifth inning, the Bucs scored one additional run when an Eagle error allowed the runner on third to come home for a 2-0 lead.
The Eagles had another chance to pull even in their half of the fifth, but Barry was able to escape the jam leaving runners on second and third to keep Embry-Riddle off the scoreboard. The game ended with a 2-0 final score in favor of the Buccaneers.
Ilona Andringa (13-11) took the complete game loss giving up two runs on six hits with four strikeouts and five walks.
Destiny Carroll finished 2-for-3 while
