DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The Embry-Riddle softball team shut out the Tritons of Eckerd to sweep the series on Saturday. The Eagles came out on top 2-0 to end their season with a winning 26-22 record while the Tritons end their season at 19-33.
A bad third inning for the Tritons would prove to cost them the game. The Eagles were able to score their only runs of the game on errors.
Eryn Chester reached on a fielding error, and then
Anna Battison reached on an errant throw that allowed both girls to score and clear the bases, putting the Eagles up 2-0.
There was only one inning in which the Tritons put more than one runner on base and they couldn't find the at-bats to push any runners through ending the game in a 2-0 shutout.
Ilona Andringa pitched a complete game shutout, closing her first season at Embry-Riddle with a 15-11 record. She gave up no runs on only three hits with six strikeouts. Battison finished 1-for-3 with one run scored.
Destiny Carroll finished 1-for-4 with the only other hit for the Eagles.
