Game Recap: RV Women's Soccer |

@ERAUWSoccer Falls at Flagler, 1-0

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – The Embry-Riddle women's soccer team suffered its first loss of the season on Sunday, falling to host Flagler in the final game of the Flagler Invitational.

"Credit goes to Ashley and his team," ERAU Head Coach Samantha Bohon said. "We played the entire first half very flat and they punished us at the end. There's no way we should give up a goal with 10 seconds left. That was a major mental lapse. We worked harder and played with more sense of urgency in the second half, but we never really connected and played our style like we know we can. I have no doubt our players expect better from themselves, so I'm excited to get another opportunity to take the field again on Thursday. We will learn from this and move forward."

The Eagles had the first shot of the game in the 17th minute. Guro Naess Berge swung the ball across the field to Rachel Owens on the left side, but Owens' shot from about 22 yards sailed just high of the cross bar.

The Saints outshot the Eagles 3-1 in the first frame and it was their third shot that paid off, as Charlene Nowotny capitalized on an Eagle defensive miscue to score from long range with just 10 seconds left in the half.

The Blue and Gold enjoyed the better of the offense in the second frame, besting the Saints 2-1 in shots and 4-2 in corner kicks. The Saints withstood a flurry of shots at the top of the box with seven minutes left to play to keep the score in their favor.

Embry-Riddle had another quality scoring chance off a corner late in the half, but Flagler deflected the two close-range shots to keep the Eagles off the board.

The Eagles will return to the pitch at 7 p.m. on Thursday when they travel to Lakeland to take on Florida Southern in a non-conference match-up.
