@ERAUMSoccer Achieves First Victory of the Year Against Coker, 1-0

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Embry-Riddle played their second contest of 2017 on Monday night in a battle against Coker College at the ERAU Soccer Stadium. The Eagles and Cobras were even through much of game until Alex O'Brien scored the only goal of the contest in the 63rd minute. The O'Brien goal gave the Eagles a win by a final score of 1-0.

It was an extremely physical and defensive-minded game as neither team could mount any offensive momentum through the first half. The teams managed just one shot on goal between them in the opening period.

The only goal of the match came in the 63rd minute of play, with Tim-Frederik Lange setting up his teammate O'Brien in the middle of the box who fired off a shot that deflected off the goalie and into the back of the net. O'Brien's tally proved to be all the Eagles would need as the ERAU defense held the Cobras in check for the rest of the night.

Richard Dearle was solid between the posts for the Eagles as he tallied two saves in the match. There was a total of 31 fouls between the Eagles and Cobras along with four yellow cards, all being handed out to the Cobras.

With the first victory of the season, the Eagles improve to 1-1 on the year while the Cobras move to 0-1 overall.

The Eagles will return to the pitch on Saturday, September 9th, as they go up against Lee University at Embry-Riddle Soccer Stadium. First touch is set to come at 7 p.m.
