Poor Shooting Does in @ERAUMBasketball in 75-60 Loss at Saint Leo

SAINT LEO, Fla. - The Bowman Activities Center has not been kind to the Embry-Riddle men's basketball team over the last three season. The Eagles dropped their third straight game at Saint Leo's home gym on Saturday, 75-60, as the visitors shot just 31 percent from the floor and 25 percent from three, falling to Saint Leo for the fourth straight game time. Embry-Riddle (9-11, 3-9 SSC) fell behind by a dozen at halftime and even though the Eagles got to within five early in the second period, the Lions (10-14, 6-7 SSC) went on a 17-5 run midway through the half to pull away.

The Blue and Gold got Nashad Mackey's 15th double-double of the season as the junior went for a team-high 16 points and 10 rebounds, tying Tyler DeBord and Chinwuba Agba for the program single-season record for double-doubles. Mackey was joined in double-figures by Rudy Bibb-Boyd and Joshua Hawkins who went for 12 and 10 points, respectively.

Saint Leo took a 3-0 lead a minute into the game and the Lions never trailed, going out to a 12-5 lead at the 15-minute mark. Brian Johnson got the Eagles within five at 18-13 with nine minutes left in the first half, but the home team responded with a run to go up 33-17 with just a minute and change left to play in the period.

Bibb-Boyd hit a jumper with five seconds left before the half, trimming the deficit to 34-22, and Embry-Riddle opened the second half on a 7-0 run, sparked by a three from Bibb-Boyd and followed by layups from Mackey and Luka Majstorovic, cutting the Lion lead to 34-29.

SLU pushed back in front by 12 at the 15-minute mark, but again the Eagles answered, getting five straight points from Mackey and a layup from Hawkins to get within 45-40. Unfortunately for the visitors, the Lions got hot, especially from deep, over the next few minutes, sprinting out to a 17-5 run, capped by a dunk with eight minutes on the clock to take a commanding 17-point lead.

The Eagles got no closer than 14 points the rest of the way, dropping to 0-6 on the road this season.

Majstorovic nearly had a double-double with nine points and nine boards, while Elijah Jenkins had seven assists for the Blue and Gold.

ERAU is back in action at the ICI Center on Wednesday, Jan. 31 against the SSC-leading Rollins Tars at 7:30 p.m.
