@ERAUVolleyball Completes Season Sweep of Nova Southeastern

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The Embry-Riddle volleyball team earned its second straight win on Friday night and completed a season sweep of the Nova Southeastern Sharks with a 3-0 (25-18, 28-26, 25-18) victory on the road. The win moves ERAU to 13-7 on the year, 7-6 in conference play, while NSU falls to 5-15, 3-10 in the SSC.

Erika Barbour led the Eagles with 13 kills while Theresa Jordan added 12 kills and 13 digs and McKenna James chipped in with 10 kills and four blocks. Alyssa Rudd tallied a double-double with 36 assists and 12 digs while Olivia Roa picked up a match-best 20 digs.

The Eagles fell behind early, trailing by scores of 4-0 and 9-5 before using a 4-0 run and a 5-0 spurt to pull ahead, 14-11. A late 4-0 surge pushed the Eagle lead to 23-14 and the Blue and Gold cruised to a 25-18 opening set win.

In set two, NSU went on a 6-0 run to take a 13-10 lead, but the Eagles eventually fought back to retake the lead, 19-18. After the Sharks moved back in front, the Blue and Gold found themselves down 24-23, just one NSU point away from a 1-1 match score. Embry-Riddle's Melanie Canfield scored a clutch kill to make it 24-24, and after trading sideouts, the Eagles were able to clinch the set on a block from Jordan and Sam Lanning, closing the set at 28-26.

An early 4-0 spurt put ERAU in the driver's seat with a 6-2 lead in set three. Embry-Riddle went on a 5-0 surge later in the frame to build the lead to 19-10, which gave the Eagles a comfortable cushion for the remainder of the match as they took the final set, 25-18.

The Eagles are back in action tomorrow in West Palm Beach as they face No. 18 Palm Beach Atlantic at 4 p.m.
