Game Recap: #20 Women's Basketball |

@ERAUWBasketball Comes Up Short Against Washburn, 88-61

LAS VEGAS, Nevada – The Embry-Riddle women's basketball team was unable to come away from Las Vegas with a win as the Eagles (6-4) fell to Washburn (6-4), 88-61, in their final game of the Trip Sports Las Vegas Hoopla tournament on Tuesday.

For the second straight game, Sarah Jones paced the Eagles' offensive effort with 18 points, four rebounds, two assists and three steals, while Nikki Tucker added 17 points.

The Eagles faced a tough challenge from the first whistle as a hot-shooting Ichabod squad went 9-of-12 from the field and 6-of-8 from the free throw line to start the contest. Conversely, the Eagles converted on just four of their 17 field goal attempts and were outrebounded 14-6 in the first 10 minutes, which helped Washburn take a 24-13 lead at the end of the first quarter.

The Blue and Gold bounced back after the first quarter, shooting 8-for-16 from the field and 5-for-9 from beyond the arc. That effort allowed the Eagles to match the Ichabods' 21-point output in the second quarter and at the half, the Washburn lead was still 11 points (45-34).

ERAU was not able to carry its second-quarter performance over to the remaining periods, however, shooting just 26.3 percent from the field in the final 20 minutes of play. Washburn, on the other hand, was 60.6 percent (20-of-33) from the field in the second half, including a 76.9 percent clip in the fourth quarter. The Ichabods steadily built on their 11-point half time lead and pulled away late in the third en route to the win.

The Eagles will look to rebound from Tuesday's setback after the Christmas break when they host Sunshine State Conference foe Tampa at the ICI Center on Dec. 29.
