DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – It took just over two hours for the Embry-Riddle women's tennis team to notch its sixth win of the season on Wednesday. The Eagles breezed through doubles and surrendered just four games in six singles matches to defeat Webber International 9-0 at the Crotty Tennis Complex.
The Eagles' No. 3 doubles team of
Lydia Carter and Roberta Krvajica earned the first point of the day, wrapping up their 8-0 win over Juliana Fuentes and Alissa Riedel in under 30 minutes.
Georgina Wood and Sabrina Ehrenfort made it 2-0 with their 8-0 shutout of Isabelle Niehoff and Svenja Koening on court two, and
Maria Turrillo and
Kathryn Bock completed the doubles sweep, topping Emily John and Jenna Fosdick 8-4.
Singles play saw Turrillo dispatch John 6-0, 6-0 in under 40 minutes for the Eagles' first singles point. Carter was next off the court and her 6-0, 6-0 defeat of Riedel at the sixth spot clinched the Eagle victory.
Krvajica and Bock each earned 6-0, 6-1 victories against Niehoff and Fuentes, respectively, while Wood bested Fosdick 6-2, 6-0 and Ehrenfort capped the scoring with a 6-3, 6-2 win over Svenija.
The Eagles are now 6-6 on the year and will face fourth-ranked Lynn on Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Crotty Tennis Complex.
