DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - The 12th-ranked Florida Southern Mocs set an Embry-Riddle baseball opponent record with 26 runs on Thursday night in the two team's series opener, cruising to a 26-4 win over the Eagles. FSC (24-4-1, 7-3 SSC) scored eight runs before the Eagles (10-17, 1-9 SSC) even got a chance to bat en route to the 22-run victory.
In the top of the first, eight runs came around to score for FSC, but only one ended up as earned as a crucial error in the outfield eventually led to an 8-0 deficit for the home team.
ERAU was able to score two runs in the bottom of the first, but then would not cross home again until the last of the ninth, as the visitors racked up 24 hits and took advantage of four Eagle errors to put the game out of reach early.
Embry-Riddle will look to bounce back tomorrow as they host the Mocs in a doubleheader starting at 1 p.m. at Sliwa Stadium.
