MELBOURNE, Fla. – The Embry-Riddle men's lacrosse team couldn't keep pace with the 15th-ranked Florida Tech Panthers on Wednesday afternoon, falling to FIT 17-3. The loss moves ERAU's record to 1-10 overall and 0-5 in Sunshine State Conference play, while the Panthers improve to 8-4 and 5-0 in SSC contests.
The Eagles dug themselves a big hole early, falling behind 8-0 after the first quarter. Kyle Dalrymple got the Blue and Gold on the scoreboard three minutes into the second quarter, but Florida Tech responded with four tallies throughout the rest of the period, giving FIT a 12-1 lead at halftime.
After a scoreless third quarter, the Panthers opened the fourth quarter with a pair of goals to push their lead to 14-1. Charles Pollock and Michael Forte found the net with goals just 23 seconds apart in the middle stages of the quarter, but that would be all the scoring the Eagles could muster. Florida Tech scored three times in the closing stages of the game to wrap up its 17-3 win.
Dalrymple, Pollock, and Forte tallied goals for the Eagles, while Mario Cartisano made 13 saves and picked up a team-high six ground balls.
The Eagles are back in action on Saturday when they travel to Winter Park to take on Rollins in another SSC matchup. The game is slated for a 4 p.m. start.
