TAMPA, Fla. – The Embry-Riddle women's lacrosse team finished out the 2018 season with a 23-8 loss at No. 16 Tampa on Saturday afternoon. The Eagles end their inaugural campaign with a 7-10 record, 1-5 in conference, while the Spartans finish the regular season with a 12-5 mark, 4-2 in SSC play.
The Spartans opened the scoring just under five minutes into the contest, but
Mya Watson answered back with a goal at the 23:25 mark to tie it up 1-1.
Gillian Greenberg followed with a goal to give the Eagles a 2-1 lead with 22:26 left in the half. UT responded with five consecutive goals over the next 10 minutes before Watson found the net to stop the momentum.
Carson Toney and
McKenzie Jackson each tallied goals in the final seven minutes of the half but the Spartans also scored four times in the closing minutes, giving the home side a 10-5 lead at the break.
Tampa scored three times in the first three minutes of the second half and built its lead up to double-digits (16-6) with 19:14 to play. ERAU found the back of the net two more times but eventually fell by a final score of 23-8.
Watson led the Eagles with three goals and two assists while Toney (2 goals, 1 assist) and Greenberg (1 goal, 1 assist) also recorded multi-point games.
Skylar Mossop (2-8) took the loss, allowing 14 goals on 17 shots in 34:32 in goal, while
Mary Kreider tallied four saves on 13 shots in 25:28 of play.
