MIAMI BEACH, Fla. – The Embry-Riddle men's golf team completed play at The Battle at the Shores hosted by Barry. The Blue and Gold posted a 299 on the third and final day of play. The Eagles finished with a total score of 895 (299+297+299) good for an 11th place finish amongst a field of 18 teams.
Joshua Hickling led the way for the Eagles as he finished tied for 25th with a final score of 217 (69-75-72).
Tyler Green was the next top finisher for ERAU, finishing tied for 54th with a score 228 (77-74-77).
Ian Aldarondo finished just behind Green, carding a 229 (78-71-80), followed by
Quinn Guzman's 229 (81-77-71) after shooting a team low 71 on Tuesday afternoon and
Patrick Byrne's 234 (75-81-78).
No. 2 Florida Southern won the tournament finishing 13-under with a total score 839 (275-283-281). No. 6 Lynn finished second coming on stroke behind Florida Southern with a 12-under 840 (280-280-280). Nova Southeastern finished in third hitting nine-under with a team score of 843 (276-288-279).
FSC's John VanDerLaan, the top-ranked golfer in NCAA II, finished tied atop the leaderboard with his team John Coultas as both hit eight-under. VanDerLann carded a 205 (66-66-73) while Coultas also carded a 205 (69-71-65). No. 2 Jorge Garcia of Barry finished third after shooting a 207 (68-69-70).
The Eagles next competition is The Sunshine State Conference Tournament, which is slated for April 22-24 in Davie, Fla.
