DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The Embry-Riddle women's soccer team scored three first-half goals and survived a second-half rally to top Lynn 3-2 in Sunshine State Conference action, Saturday at the ERAU Soccer Stadium.
Annie Gelnaw tallied three points for the Blue and Gold who improved to 4-3 overall and 2-1 in SSC play.

"That was the epitome of a Sunshine State game," ERAU Head Coach
Samantha Bohon observed. "We were happy to put three goals away in the first half but didn't handle the second half well. We told them at half to expect a push and we panicked a bit. There are some things I would do differently looking back, but that's all part of the game. On Wednesday night, we played well but lost. Tonight, we didn't play well but managed to win. We'll work hard this week watching film and going over some things in order to be ready for a really good Eckerd team."

Just 14 minutes into the contest, Gelnaw completed a pass across the top of the box to
Eva Jonsdottir. The freshman's 20-yard shot went off the hands of Lynn goalkeeper Lina Lundgren and into the net to give the Eagles a 1-0 lead.

In the 37
th minute, the Eagles won a throw-in on the left side of the pitch.
Natalie Allen found
Ragnheidur Gardarsdottir who turned and fired a shot on frame. Once again, Lundgren was able to get both gloves on the ball, but she couldn't hold on to it and Gelnaw ran on to the rebound to double the Eagle lead to 2-0.

The Eagles, who bested the Fighting Knights 6-1 in shots on goal in the first half, added to their tally six minutes later. Lundgren was lifted in favor of Gabriela Lopez and Allen wasted little time in testing the substitute goalie. Lopez made a diving save to stop Allen's attempt but once again, an Eagle player was on hand to collect the rebound and
Saba Amiri made it 3-0 at the half with her first goal of the season.

Lynn managed to keep the Eagles pinned in their defensive half for the first 10 minutes of the second period and their pressure paid off when Morgan Meltzer headed home a corner kick in the 47th minute.

With 25 minutes left to play, Lynn got its second goal of the night courtesy of an Emily Weisberg penalty kick.

Both teams battled through the final 25 minutes, but neither side was able to add to its tally, resulting in the 3-2 final score.

Next up for the Eagles is a 7 p.m. fixture against Eckerd, Wednesday at the ERAU Soccer Stadium.
