DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Embry-Riddle freshman Savannah Sheahan was impressive in her first game at the ERAU Soccer Stadium as she led the Eagles to a 2-1 upset of 14th-ranked Flagler on Friday evening. Friday's win was ERAU's first of the season and puts the Eagles at 1-2 on the year.

The Saints held a 15-8 advantage in shots and had seven corner kicks compared to just two by ERAU, but it wasn't enough to get by the Eagles whose
Dana Ruchti snagged seven saves in 90 minutes between the pipes.

The Eagles' first goal of the season came of Sheahan's head in the at the 15:39 mark. After Flagler played the ball out over the end line,
Rachel Owens sent the resulting corner kick across the goal to the back post where Sheahan rose above the Flagler defense to head home the first goal of her collegiate career and give the Blue and Gold a 1-0 lead.

With just over 13 minutes left in the first half, the Eagles were called for a foul just outside the box and Charlene Nowotny converted on the free kick to pull the Saints level at the half.

The Saints kept the Eagles pinned in their half of the field for the majority of the start of the second half, but midway through the frame, the momentum started to shift in the other direction. In the 75
th minute,
Annie Gelnaw won a ball in the middle of the pitch and completed a pass to Sheahan. The freshman lifted a shot over advancing Flagler goalkeeper Maddison Lipson to reclaim a one-goal lead for the Eagles.

The Saints created several chances to tie things up late in the contest, but Ruchti was equal to the task, hauling three saves in the final eight minutes to help the Eagles pull out the win.

Lipson finished with two saves for the Saints who moved to 1-1 with the loss.

The Eagles will be back in action with an early start time on Sunday, hosting Tusculum in an 11 a.m. contest at the Embry-Riddle Soccer Stadium.
