@ERAUMBasketball Stumbles Down the Stretch in 88-82 Loss to Saint Leo

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - The Embry-Riddle men's basketball team didn't have a slow start on Saturday night, but it was second-half  struggles that doomed the Eagles in an 88-82 loss to visiting Saint Leo in the ICI Center. ERAU (8-9, 1-5 SSC) couldn't stay with the hot-shooting Lions (5-9, 2-4 SSC) in the closing period, seeing a tie game at half result in a six-point loss. SLU shot 61 percent in the second half while ERAU struggled from deep in the second going 0-for-9 before finally connecting on its final trey attempt of the game.

For the second straight game, Tylin Lockett-Fuller led the way offensively for the Blue and Gold, scoring 16 points with seven rebounds and two assists. Five total Eagles reached double-figures, but Saint Leo countered with a big game from Kyran McClure who finished with 27 points, including a 14-for-16 effort at the charity stripe.

A Luke Majstorovic layup gave the Eagls their first lead of the game at 5-4, and both teams played evenly in the opening half, taking a 35-35 game into the break.

Majstorovic and Alston Jones started the second half with buckets for the Eagles to give them a 39-35 lead, but Saint Leo answered with a 14-3 run over the next four minutes, going up 47-42 on a McClure trey. Saint Leo continued to have an answer for each Eagle basket, as the home team was never able to get closer than six the rest of the night.

Elijah Jenkins scored 14 points to join Lockett-Fuller in double-figures, with Majstorovic and Nashad Mackey each scoring 13. Jones finished with 11 points for the Blue and Gold.

ERAU wraps up it's four-game SSC homestand with a game against Lynn on Wednesday, Jan. 9 at 7:30 p.m.
