Game Recap: RV Women's Soccer |

@ERAUWSoccer Downs Sailfish 3-1

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The Embry-Riddle women's soccer team notched its fifth Sunshine State Conference win of the season on Wednesday evening, downing Palm Beach Atlantic (6-6, 2-5) 3-1 at the ERAU Soccer Stadium. The Eagles (7-3 overall) are now in second place in the league standings with a 5-1 record.

The Blue and Gold controlled the game in the early stages and kept the Sailfish pinned in their defensive half for much of the first period. The Eagles bested PBAU 8-2 in shots and converted on two of those chances in the first 45 minutes.

In the 21st minute, Ragnheidur Gardarsdottir's shot attempt went off the hand of a PBA defender inside the 18-yard box. The junior buried the resulting penalty kick to tally her third goal of the year and put the Eagles up 1-0.

The Eagles continued to pour on the pressure and six minutes later, they struck again. Elizabeth Allen played the ball out to Isabelle Navren on the right and she lifted a cross into the box where Julia Olsson hit a first-touch strike off the bounce into the upper right corner to increase the ERAU lead to 2-0.

A more evenly played second half saw the Sailfish with some early attempts on frame. Playing out of the back following an Eagle foul, PBA quickly got the ball into the Eagles' defensive third and Karina Williams finished a long pass from Kylee Rullo to make it 2-1.

Williams continued to lead the PBA attack with a shot that was saved by ERAU goalkeeper Dana Ruchti and another that went off the post, but it was the Eagles who tallied the game's final goal. Sofia Munthe Nilsson won the ball on the left side and dribbled toward the center of the pitch before playing a perfectly weighted ball through to Marie Myhrvold Seim on the run. Myhrvold Seim took one touch around the advancing PBA goalkeeper before depositing her fourth goal into the net to seal the win for the Blue and Gold.

The Eagles go on the road for a 6 p.m. tilt against Lynn on Saturday in another Sunshine State Conference match-up.
