@ERAUMSoccer Downed By Nova Southeastern 4-1

FT. LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The Embry-Riddle men's soccer team saw their 2019 season come to an end Saturday night at the hands of Nova Southeastern by a score of 4-1 from the NSU Soccer Complex.

The Sharks (8-4-3, 5-3-1) were able to get the game's first goal in the 22nd minute, as following a free kick, Jan Luca Ahillen was able to corral the rebound and play one up for Sebastian Loibl to head one past the reach of Jack Crichton. The goal, originally whistled no good for Loibl being offsides, was awarded following a stoppage of nearly five minutes as the officiating crew gathered to discuss the play.

Loibl would score again in the 28th minute, as he broke free behind the Eagles' back line and fired a ball played ahead by Alex Berg into the net for his seventh goal of the season to make it a 2-0 game.

The Eagles (4-9-0, 3-7-0) would get on the board shortly before the end of the first half. Following a hand ball in the penalty area by the Sharks after a shot deflection, Teddy West converted his third penalty kick of the season as he went right corner to make it a 2-1 game.

Nova Southeastern held a 14-9 advantage in shots through the first 45 minutes of action. The two teams were even in shots on goal with six. Titouan Le Roux had five saves in goal, while Crichton had four of his own.

The second half would see the Sharks score twice more as they extended their lead and kept the Eagles off the board, despite some near-miss moments. In the 61st minute, Matty Cornish went lower right corner on a long cross into the box from Loibl to make it a 3-1 game.

Loibl would be involved in another scoring play in the 75th minute, as he recorded a hat trick with his third goal of the night, as Michael Lawrence played a ball across the mouth of the goal for the one-timer to make it 4-1 Sharks.

Nova Southeastern finished the night with 20 shots, 15 of which were on goal, while Embry-Riddle managed 15 shots, seven of which were on goal. Both netminders finished the evening with six saves. The Sharks were awarded seven corner kicks to six for the Eagles. 33 fouls and nine yellow cards were issued during the course of the contest.

Christian Mather and Tim-Frederik Lange, both playing their final game for the Blue & Gold, each had four shots attempts and two shots on goal. West finished the night with three shots, Alex O'Brien, who was also playing his final game for Embry-Riddle, had a pair of shots, with one on goal, while Diogo Cobos and Ryan Kirby had one shot each.
