@ERAUVolleyball Swept by Sharks in Regular Season Finale

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The Embry-Riddle volleyball team was swept for just the second time all season on Friday night, losing to visiting Nova Southeastern 3-0 (26-24, 25-22, 25-19) to finish the regular season 19-8 and 12-8 in conference play. NSU improved to 19-11 and 11-8 in SSC matches with the victory.

Theresa Jordan led the Eagles with nine kills while Melanie Canfield and Amelia Hartnett each chipped in with seven kills. Olivia Roa led all players 18 digs and Alysa Rudd had a match-high 25 assists.

ERAU took an early 3-1 lead in the first set and never trailed until the final moments. The Sharks stormed back from a 24-20 deficit, fighting off four set points as they scored the set's final six, taking the frame by a 26-24 score.

The Blue and Gold again took an early 3-1 lead in set two but a 5-0 NSU run gave the visitors an 11-8 lead which they would not relinquish. A Jenna Bishop kill got ERAU back on level footing at 12-12 but the Sharks scored the next three points as part of a 5-1 spurt that put NSU back in front, 17-13. A late 6-2 rally brought the home side to within a pair (24-22), but Nova Southeastern scored the next point to stop the run and secure the set, 25-22.

The Eagles had their best start in the third set, opening up a 10-4 advantage early on. NSU battled back and eventually went on a 9-1 run to turn a 15-12 deficit into a 21-16 lead. Embry-Riddle scored the next three points to trim the margin to 21-19, but the Sharks responded by winning the final four points of the set to win it, 25-19, finishing off the 3-0 sweep.

ERAU will now await the announcement of the NCAA II Volleyball National Championship bracket on Monday evening to learn their postseason fate. The selection show will be broadcast on NCAA.com at 7:30 p.m. on Monday.
